Naim cd5x

Hi, new to forums and would like to ask a question about above player that I'm interested in buying privately. Chap selling it says that that it has problems playing cdrs, but has no problems with genuine CDs?
Wondered whether naim CD players are fussy about cdrs or could it be something more sinister?
