Strange Chinese portable radio...??

Just bought, for 15 Euro, a Chinese portable radio, battery/AC, called KIPO KB-AC807B, with FM, MW, and 3 SW bands.
Works fine, but I think on Monday I'll take it back because the frequencies shown on the analogue scale are not the frequencies of the stations I'm receiving. To be clear, when I'm actually listening to 87.60, the scale reads 69. When I'm listening to 107.1, the scale reads 108.
Also, the FM scale extends from "108", as usual, but goes down to "64," where in fact I'm receiving actual transmissions around 87.
It is as if they have mis-printed the entire scale along which the needle rolls back and forth (I home I'm being clear).
Now has anyone else had this problem? Is it something peculiarly "Chinese"? The only solution seems to be to stick a piece of white tape along the top and write in the actual frequencies being received, but since I'm an old customer of the Chinese gentleman who sold it to me, and he said he would take it back if I was not satisfied, I think I'll just do that. Just thought there might be some "fix" I have not thought of.
