What I experienced was a fairly quick answer despite high call rates and a very helpful person on the other end who took the history, went off to speak to a nurse advisor then sent a doctor to the house.
He arrived in about 45 min, made a very thorough examination then spoke his differential diagnosis out loud and made the recommendation of hospital admission by ambulance, with his reasons for this.
Ambulance came after about one and a half hours ( with prior advice that if things got worse to call 999) and took patient to hospital where treatment started very quickly. The ambulance crew were also excellent.
What an impressive and reassuring experience.
