New CDP acquisition today...

New acquisition today - CDM12x based "high end" CD player. My Naim CDI broke a while back, and is going to take a while for me to fix - I've modified a Marantz CD60 (based on similar chipset), and have been happy with the sound...but still have niggling doubts about it's comparison to the CDI (aural memory is not very reliable I suspect...or, I don't necessarily trust it ), so bought this on a whim at a respectable price that should mean I can flip it without a loss if we don't get on. It is very big, and very ugly - subjective, I know.

Initially not that impressive either - although it has improved over last 30-45 mins. It has great detail and superb imaging...but, music still doesn't sound that joined up through it for my ears.

I'll leave it on repeat for a few days and see what happens.

Too embarassed to name it (it got great press reviews, but regularly slagged on some forums), but am happy to share (anonymised) pics of internals;

No belief in boutiquey op-amps (not bad thing BTW)

Tube OP stage...but driven by those op-amps I guess
