What I am really battling with is how to price the gear...
Most of it is now about ten years old and no longer in current production, so it is difficult to obtain current replacement prices for most of the items. The speakers are ~20 years old but are in almost mint condition)
In addition, the SA Rand has devalued against the major currencies, so that current replacement costs would be considerably higher - purely from an exchange rate perspective.
I will definitely be keeping the LP12 as I don't plan on getting rid of my vinyl collection as well. The two other items that may stay are the FM tuner and the CD/HDD recorder.
The balance that will be on offer will comprise:
- Theta Data Basic II transport (with a spare CDM9-Pro mechanism)
- Bryston BDA-1 DAC
- Classe' CP500 pre-amp (with optional PHCP500 phono stage included)
- Jeff Rowland Model 201 monoblocks (a pair)
- Tannoy D700 (Cherry - one pair)
- PS Audio Statement SC power cords (x5)
- PS Audio Power Punch (x1)
- PS Audio Transcendent Single-Ended I/Cs (pairs - x3)
- PS Audio Transcendent Balanced I/Cs (pairs x2)
- PS Audio Reference Bi-Wire spkr cables (2.5m pair)
- Transparent Premium AES/EBU digital I/C (1m x 1)
- PS Audio Quintet Power Filter/Power Strip (10 x NEMA sockets)
One obvious option would be to offer some "bundles":
a) Piecemeal prices for all components with no bundling
b) Bundle the appropriate interconnect cables with each individual item if purchased separately
c) One total system bundle including all cabling and mains filter
The challenge remains of where to peg the individual component prices...
I never realised how difficult this would be...
