I always preferred coax with my original Rega Dac (same with my current Deltec). As I understand it it cuts out one level of processing, i.e. converting the digital signal to a flashing light and back again. Optical has a benefit if you want to send a signal a long way or have a reason to isolate the components electrically, but otherwise I'd go with a nice 75 ohm coax cable (buy a proper one or use an old thin ethernet coax cable, not any random interconnect you may have knocking around as the impedance is important).
