wrong forum category, etc.
I joined because I have an interest in researching and writing about audio and in particular the history of UK audio and hifi. Some may have already seen my websites on these topics.
I want to ask for info in two areas.
1) Specific to the old 'Armstrong' company. I have found a number of reviews of most of their old kit covering the period from the mid-1950s onwards. But I haven't found two examples I think may exist.
One is that I haven't found any magazine reviews of their '602' speaker. This was only on sale for a short time in the late 1970s. I've found a 'system' review that includes it, but not a specific focussed review. I suspect one appeared - e.g. in an old 'Hi Fi Choice' pocketbook-size issue on Loudspeakers.
The other is that I think there was a 600-range tuner review which commented on a 'dull' sound and showed an FM response that fell in the treble. I recall this because I know that by accident the set sent for review had the USA time-constant! :-)
It would be good to find copies of these to add to my survey. So can anyone help, please?
The other part of this goes into the distant mists of pre-Hi-Fi days. i.e. extending back into the 1930 when the company started. Again I have a few reviews (but lots of ads) in this period. So pointers to other reviews or any actual articles in old mags would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help. All being well, I also hope in return to be able to help or advise others.
Cheers,
Jim
