ELAC B6 Debut Pricing UK/US

Elac is headquartered in Germany. Its DEBUT line of speakers are designed in California and manufactured in China. In the States they sell for $280 per pair and in the UK £299, which is just about difference of $140.

Elac is a German company. Can someone please explain to me why on earth a product from the Continent should be so much less expensive in the States?
