Time capsule isn't working

Evening all.

I use a Time Capsule as a router at home. It is plugged into my BT hub which in turn is connected into my Bt broadband box. I have two WD my clouds plugged into the Time Capsule. I have a printer plugged in too.

Yesterday the Time Capsule kept dropping out although the BT hub kept working. Tonight the TC is not connecting all. I am assuming that the TC has simply packed up! Would this be a reasonable assumption? Will I have lost all the infomation backed up on the TC?

If that is the case can anyone recommend a new router/ hub. Or should I be doing something else? While the TC was very easy to set up I am not tied to a TC and frankly I am not a huge fan of the way it appears to store the backup! On my PC at work the back up simply replicates the files and file structure on my PC where as the TC appears to do all sorts of impenetrable things storing the back up.
