New member here, though I have browsed many a time. Wonder if anyone can help with this one?
I recently received a used Naim 155 XS power amp and inside the case something was rattling around, it seemed to me like a loose screw. In the cardboard box it arrived in, I found a shakeproof washer broken in two, which led me to this belief. To cut a long story short, I opened the case and found the aforementioned screw, just an internal screw from the lid of the case. However, while I had the case open, I noticed that a large aluminium bar in the middle of the circuit board was covered in wet, white paint. I have searched for other pics of Naim power amp internals and not really seen a similar thing. Does anyone know what this is, if it's original and if so, what is the purpose?
Thanks for any help, I'm just trying to satisfy my curiosity!
