Hicap & TPR4 noodlings

vendredi 4 mars 2016

Been messing around over the last few weeks with a hicap which powers my Nac72 with 821A boards. It has kendeil 22000uf caps and a magnificnt TPR4 module within along with the original transformer and bridge rectifiers, Mr Tibbs split 0V mod was done 8 or 9 years ago, what a revelation that was.

First off i just moved the caps and regulator around. The tpr4 is now along the back panel of the chasis and so further away from the transformer. This means the smoothers are now in an L shape pointing towards the rectifiers one between the transformer and tpr4 and the other parallel with the mains input wiring.

This has enabled the caps terminals to be much closer the rectifiers than with the standard Naim layout. I moved the rectifier nearest the front on/off switch and used a chasis hole that used to secure the caps in place.

Well that made a nice improvement, well worth the effort. Regulator further away from the transformer and caps close to the rectifier.
