My only reason for sale is to help out my brother in law in this hard time he has found himself in as I don't listen to headphones too much really, just always nice to have a good setup for when I'm reviewing associated equipment.
The brand is KS Systems and the model is an X5, the designer is somewhat of a legend in the mobile communications sector and has an extensive history in electronics, although never pursuing the Hifi sector he has every capability in doing so.
The unit is pure class A design and circuit is based around all discrete components.
The original £5 Alps Blue volume pot has been exchanged for a £150 Dact stepped attenuators and the already good internal linear power supply has been swapped out in replacement of a Custom Hifi Cables £500 linear power supply.
I own 4 Paul Hynes SR5, 4 Paul Hynes SR7 and the latest top of the range SR7 dual regulated power supplies and can vouch for Sean's power supply design, it's a very nice design and piece of kit.
The unit also works as a preamp and has the rear gain selector controls bypassed for purity of signal.
The total cost for this setup is around £1350, it's not just a run of the mill off the shelf or duplicated mass market product, I've owned a fair few headamps (bar the latest offerings from Senn, Shiit and Oppo etc) and this is right up there.
I'm looking for £475 collection welcomed from Plymouth and delivery is possible, I have no original packaging but tons of adequate stuff for a safe journey.
