Crossover polarity?
I'm re-wiring and re-capping a pair of Grundig Box 50 speakers. 2-way, 4 Ohm, using Philips octagonal woofers and a classic Philips dome tweeter.
The odd thing is that the crossover seems to have the main coil for the woofer and the cap for the tweeter on the negative side (checked pos/neg with a torch battery on the wires). In other words, it seems a reversed, mirror-image of a standard crossover layout. No reason it should not work equally well, but just wondering if this was normal practice on 1970s German speakers.
Just curious, really.
