Can I use a receiver as pre: tape out or processor out?

Hi.

I have a good cd-receiver from AVM (Audio Video Manufaktur) and just had the idea that I may be able to use this as a preamp - although it does not have pre out.

The idea would be to connect it to the power amp by way of tape out or processor out. Is this possible or will I destroy / impair sq in a major way?

Edit: I don't know what exactly processor in/out does with the signal.
