Best smoothing capacitors

After reading a 63 page thread on DIY Audio i gathered from amongst the noise that PEH169 and PEH200 caps are highly recommended for smoothing.

Since the PEH169 are very expensive and hard to get hold of then the only option are the PEH200. Others have spoken about 4 pole capacitors and some really like them. Added to my shortlist. The best ones i have experience with are Kendeil.

What would be a good choice for

1) power amp output stage (NCC200)
2) power amp front end
3) preamp gain boards (821A)
4) RSL thin film phono boards
5) CD player anologue stage (CD3.5)

When using crcrc supplies is it worth going for expensive low esr and esl caps?
