It was a very serious charge, the police were 100% correct to investigate it. If it turns out that "Nick" was lying then he should obviously be prosecuted to the very fullest extent if the law. There is however a difference between something being dropped due to lack of evidence and it not having occured, and none of us are in a position to make a call on that. A hopefully more productive avenue is that the police are apparently going to investigate the case of the child that went missing and has been linked by "Nick" and maybe others to this case. If they can answer that one definitively it is well worth doing, e.g. if he turns up safe and well somewhere or something like that then it actively disproves the conspiracy account.

Harvey Proctors bleating for police to get sacked is exactly as wrong-headed and arrogant as one would expect from a pompous Tory grandee. The police had to investigate this, and if a few innocent people got asked a few questions along the way then that's the way it goes. The alternate is to never believe witnesses in rape cases if the alleged attacker has a position of status or power, and much as some puffed-up Tory shits would love that it is not the way any democratic and fair legal system should function. No one is apologising for investigating Greville Janner or Cyril Smith, and neither should they.
