Will Self - a hero for our times

I saw Will Self accuse Chris Philp of naked self-interest in the debate about privately-owned public spaces on Channel 4. It was a great move by Self, because the Tory MP works in property development and that's how he made his money. The public unmasking of opinion givers should happen more often.

Last week there was a spokesman for Age UK in the media a lot, I forget his name. He was defending their deal with E.ON, who paid £6 miliion a year to the charity for pushing the energy company's more expensive tariffs onto the elderly. One of the news presenters should have asked the Age UK spokesman exactly how much he earns.

A lot of people at the top of charities earn over £300,000 a year and this one of the reasons why I won't bother giving most of them any money. It is just a rip-off and the Age UK deal with E.ON is another example of it, as you can see in The Telegraph.
