Any Tips On Using A Staple Gun?

I have a couple of projects on which involve stapling grey crushed velvet onto a pine frame Ive made to cover my concrete slabs. Soft pine strips should take staples very well. This may be a thread for the DIY section.

I may also use it for grille frames if I can recess and cover the staples with an extra liner (or I may use glue)

I watched a you tube video and Im fairly sure that a £7.95 gun will do the job. I dont feel I need a top named brand.

I see some have a tensioner on the top and power can be adjusted but Ive not really used one before

I see they take a wide range of staples and even small nails. I only need 4mm to 6mm leg staples. The staples seem to be pricey although some come with the gun.

Has anybody used them who can give us pointers to suitable staples and usage tips. Are the cheaper staple guns enough to do the job?
