Tidal>offline>playing through car stereo

Guys, bit of another numpty question but here goes.

I pay for Tidal and like it a lot. A few times I've tried this offline thing when I'm away from the wifi network but get nothing........should I? ie my stored playlist.

I wanted to try using this in a car with offline content and no data usage, ie USB from android phone with Tidal to head unit on stereo, any reason why this shouldn't work? Anybody actually doing it please?

Before I start faffing about and swearing and cussing I thought I'd ask the power of PFM if this is a goer

Head unit if specs need to be checked is an Alpine CDE 181RR.
